Both in the outpatient and inpatient area, we offer the entire range of modern surgical and conservative ophthalmology. In addition to glaucoma and cataract surgery, the diagnosis and treatment of retinal and macular diseases as well as the vitrectomy / retinal / vitreous body surgery are our specialities.
Since 2007 the field of retinal and vitreous body surgery has been established as our main area and constantly improved.
Cataract surgery was introduced as early as in 1979 in the ophthalmology department of the Saint Gertrauden Hospital in Berlin and has since then been constantly improved. We perform surgeries on the highest level.
An additional frequent surgical procedure in our hospital is micro-surgical and laser-surgical interventions against glaucoma.
Since 2007 corneal grafting (keratoplasty) has also been an important main area of the department. Both individually matched and mismatched corneal transplants are used; the surgery can be either penetrating or lamellar, if necessary, in combination with lenticular surgery and / or vitrectomy. In certain cases it is possible to delay the surgery by collagen cross-linking.
The surgical spectrum is completed by outpatient surgeries and a wide range of special examinations.
We focus on the following fields:
Retinal and vitreous body surgeries
· Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV)
· Scleral buckle / Cerclage surgeries
· Intravitreal drug administration into the vitreous body cavity
